I recently finished a new book entitled “Living Rich for Less” by Ellie Kay. The premise of the book is the 10/10/80 principle…. that is, 10% giving, 10% saving, and 80% spending. Many people try to live 0/20/80 or 10/10/90 (debt), or some other level and it just doesn’t work. I liked that Ellie spent time on each of these areas. With the 10% giving, she gave a great assignment to show that we don’t just give with our money, we give with our time, talents, and resources as well. It showed me that I really have more to give than I thought. I love that! Each chapter has practical principles you can apply to your own life.
“With lively humor, proven know-how, and practical principles for financial health, Living Rich for Less helps you stretch your dollars to realize the lifestyle of your dreams. Ellie Kay’s entertaining and enlightening examples show you simple steps to save, spend, and give smart, and her three main principles are undergirded by dozens of effective rules and hundreds of Cha-Ching Factor™ tips that keep or put money in your pocket.”
Ellie Kay and her husband had accumulated $40,000 in debt, but they were able to get out in short time with the principles in her book. So with the New Year coming and resolutions to make, I highly recommend this book if one of those resolutions concerns your finances. (I recommend it even if they don’t!) It will set you up to win. So check out “Living Rich for Less.”
