God is so good. Some of us were worried that the threat of rain would drive people away. It just so happens that God did not allow but a few drops to fall early in the evening while we were still setting up. Frankie and Rosie got there at 2pm to start getting the popcorn ready (and finished at 6:30pm). Coke brought their trailer and had everything set up for that. There was hardly any wind so that wasn’t an issue this time. Everything ran rather smoothly; we were much more calm this time (or at least I was). It was amazing!
God exceeded our expectations again! There were many more people there than last time! We estimated at least 2000 people at the first MIP. I don’t have a final estimate on this one, but judging from the size of this crowd compared to last time, I would venture to guess there were between 2500-3000 people. Amazing! What is truly amazing is that we had enough popcorn and drinks to last until the movie started!
Anyway, I was thinking about some Scriptures I had read this morning. Luke 10:2 that says, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few” and John 4:35, “I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” As a part of Hub City Church, I can look out over this crowd and realize this is our field. My hope and prayer is that God will use us to bring about a great harvest.
Thank you to everyone who helped in any way or donated supplies and gift certificates. And a special thank you to God for bringing everything together so perfectly (despite the few minutes the sound went out)! Oh, and by the way, the picture at the top is at best only half of the crowd.
